  • Grace Design- a legacy of quality

Released in 1994, Grace Design's first 8-channel preamp, the Model 801, set new standards for sonic quality and reliability. It boasted independent circuit boards for each channel, gold contact rotary gain controls wired with precision metal film resistors, a musical-sounding transimpedance (current feedback) gain stage, and gold contact-sealed relay signal switching. Beyond that, there were zero electrolytic capacitors in its signal path. In 2006, they released the m801, which upped the ante with a fully balanced signal path and ribbon mic mode. And now we have the m801mk2, which builds on its predecessors with better noise performance at low gains, increased low-frequency bandwidth for improved phase response, and improved RFI/EMI immunity. On top of that, they eliminated the external DC power supply, providing you with a cleaner, simpler design.

8 mic inputs with 16 XLR out
The m801mk2 includes eight balanced mic-level inputs on female XLR connectors, eight balanced line-level outputs on male XLR connectors, and an additional eight balanced line-level outputs on male XLR connectors. Both sets of analog outputs (16 outputs) can be used simultaneously.

    Dedicated ribbon mic switch
Included on each preamp channel is a dedicated ribbon microphone switch, which shifts the preamplifier's entire gain range up 10dB while deactivating +48-volt phantom power and bypassing the coupling capacitors. This gives you the proper signal strength to maximize your ribbon microphones, while the automatic disabling of phantom power ensures that you won't accidentally fry your mic.
