Delivering a refined sense of air, presence, and natural top end without sacrificing the full body of the 017 TUBE, the Soyuz Microphones Silver 17 is a cardioid, large-diaphragm tube condenser mic ideal for vocals, drums, acoustic guitar, and more. This mic sports a 34mm gold-sputtered, K67-based capsule with inspiration from the Soviet-era LOMO 19A18.

The Silver 17's hybrid approach to its capsule design results in a sensitive response with a smooth balance of color and improved clarity in the upper bands. Like all Soyuz products, this mic is handmade in Russia in point-to-point style, with a military-grade 6ZH1P tube at its heart and a custom in-house wound transformer. The Silver 17 includes a shockmount, an external power supply, an XLR cable, a power cable, and a wooden box for securely storing the entire kit.

Where Weight Meets Air
The Silver 17 is voiced to sound powerful while sitting naturally in a mix. It carries the same larger-than-life lows and rich midrange of its sibling, the 017 TUBE, but with a greater emphasis on the presence and clarity demanded for modern productions.

The difference begins to shine in the upper range, where the Silver 17 remains open and expressive. The smooth lift highlights detail without exaggeration, while the controlled articulation helps vocals, guitars, keys, and other sources come through with less need for postproduction sculpting.

Inspired by Classics, Built as an Original
The core of the Silver 17's sound comes from its custom, edge-terminated variant of our S17 capsule: a hand-machined, gold-sputtered, 34mm design developed entirely in-house. The original S17 was influenced by K67 geometry, the architecture behind some of the most recorded large-diaphragm condensers in history, and serves as the base of the 017 Series' dense low-end and midrange.

For the Silver 17, Soyuz engineers built on that foundation, drawing inspiration from mics like the LOMO 19A18, a rare Soviet-era gem often compared to a C12 and prized for its airiness and top-end response. This hybrid approach led to a complete redesign of the capsule with new acoustic resistance, new backplate mechanics, and new diaphragm tensioning.

Where the original S17 routes its electrical charge through the center of the capsule, the Silver 17 applies the charge directly to the diaphragm and routes it through the mounting ring. With no center screw, there is no obstruction to the diaphragm's most sensitive area. The result is a capsule that responds more freely, giving the Silver 17 a smooth balance of color and excitement across the spectrum.

Handcrafted
The Silver 17, like every other Soyuz microphone, is an original design brought to life by Soyuz master machinists and engineers. Bodies are hand-turned on the lathe. Capsule backplates are cut, polished, and individually tensioned by hand.

Transformers are wound in-house. Every connection is true point-to-point wiring. The military-grade 6ZH1P tube, selected and trusted throughout the 017 lineage, remains at the heart of the circuit.
