  • The Primacoustic Stratus is an acoustical cloud that suspends above the listening area to control early reflections, flutter echo and help eliminate standing waves that cause resonant peaks in the critical mix position.

Once installed, you will immediately notice a more controlled environment, larger sweet spot and reduced fatigue.

Aesthetically pleasing and cost effective, the Stratus is easily assembled in minutes using a simple screw driver. The kit includes a 2" thick, 24" x 48" panel made from high density 6lb per cubic foot glass wool as well as all installation hardware. The glass wool is encapsulated with micromesh and edges are resin treated to trap in the glass fibres. For an attractive finish, the panel is then covered in an acoustically transparent fabric.

The suspension hardware consists of two aluminum rails and "L" brackets that form a frame around the panel. To hang the Stratus, attach the included suspension wire to the frame. Hardware and fasteners for sheet-rock ceilings are included. Usually, the Stratus is suspended above the mix position and clustered in an array spanning the width of your console or desk.

The Stratus absorbs energy by converting it to heat. Sound waves traveling via air vibrations penetrate the surface of the cloud causing the glass fibers to vibrate creating heat. This thermo-dynamic energy transfer does an excellent job of absorbing directional sound energy as well as prevents it from reflecting into the mix position.

Alone, the 2" thick panel is effective through a range of 400Hz to 20kHz (see the acoustic absorption chart). To control a broader frequency spectrum, the Stratus can be angled to vary the air space between the panel and the ceiling.
