The Model 4288's electronics are housed externally due to Chris's conviction that nothing good can come of having them in the same enclosure with vibrating transducers. Fair enough. In keeping with the purist design philosophy, the Model 4288s employ a pair of 4" two-way dual concentric speakers. Extreme attention has been paid to time domain accuracy and phase coherence, ensuring that the drivers' output reaches your ears at the same time. Chris Pelonis has a long-standing reputation for designing musical and transparent-sounding facilities. Tasked with acoustic analysis and measurement, materials specification, construction, and installation, it's not surprising that an expertise in monitor design would be a natural extension of these disciplines. In addition to his work as an acoustical designer, consultant and manufacturer, Chris is also a professional musician, engineer / producer, and studio owner, so he possesses the in-front-of- and behind-the-board perspective that allows him to design monitors that "translate" to the world outside the studio.
