  • Converting 16 studio-quality balanced analog inputs and outputs to ADAT I/O, the Ferrofish Pulse16 is a high-quality solution for connecting a wide range of analog and ADAT studio gear to your console or computer interface. ADAT, a mature, cost-efficient protocol, is widely available across the pro audio world, so expanding your studio with the Pulse16 is a no-brainer. This high-density AD/DA/ADAT converter handles 16 x 16 balanced analog TRS ins and outs at professional studio levels up to +20dBu — adjustable in 1dB steps. 4+4 ADAT optical ports provide full 16 x 16 channel operation up to 96kHz. You can upgrade your Pulse16 with the optional optical MADI I/O module via the SFP port (which transforms it into a Pulse16 MX). This optional MADI upgrade not only adds 64 x 64 MADI channels, but allows sample rates of up to 192kHz for all I/O, including ADAT (SMUX/4).

    Equipped for high performance
The Ferrofish Pulse16 leverages the latest generation of high-performance, low-latency converter technology from Cirrus Logic. Combined with a high-precision, temperature-compensated clock and active jitter reduction, the fan-less hardware design of the Pulse16 delivers an incredibly detailed sound. The Pulse16 is fitted with word clock and MIDI I/O for embedding signals and remote control. Many popular features from Ferrofish’s flagship A32 are onboard as well, including preset management, a panel lock, and a sophisticated routing matrix.

    Internal routing matrix
The Pulse16 has an internal matrix that allows you to freely route and split of all 48 inputs to all 48 outputs in blocks of eight channels, while an integrated front-panel headphone output lets you monitor every mono or stereo I/O directly from the unit. These features are shown on the TFT displays and are easy to control with the Ferrofish Smart Guide system.

    Dual TFT display

Two high-resolution TFT displays provide detailed level information for all 2 x 16 signals at a glance. A much-appreciated Ferrofish standard feature is also onboard — innovative on-board contextual help — allowing to use this high-tech unit without cracking the manual.

    The enduring ADAT Lightpipe format
Developed for the Alesis Digital Audio Tape machine in 1991, the ADAT Lightpipe interface remains one of the most affordable ways to transfer a variety of audio channels. It’s a reliable, standardized format included on a wide range of today’s equipment. The format’s inclusion in the Ferrofish Pulse16 makes this converter invaluable for a broad array of studio and live sound applications, day in and day out.
