  • Built to provide a portable dialogue noise suppressor that everyone can use anywhere, the DNS 4 4-Channel Dialogue Noise Suppressor from CEDAR is the most advanced portable model in the award-winning DNS series. Designed to be incredibly fast and easy to use, the DNS 4 requires nothing more than turning on its learn function, after which the machine learning-based algorithm will automatically identify and adapt to background noise and dynamically adjust attenuation to achieve remarkable results.

The unit is small enough to fit into your pocket, yet comes with a plethora of I/O, including XLR and mini-XLR jacks for analog or digital connections, 48V of phantom power, ultralow noise microphone inputs, and extremely low latency for reliable performance in nearly all situations, from location recording and live sound in venues such as theatres, concert halls, or places of worship, to live-to-air broadcasting. With support for AES3/AES11 digital syncing and an impressive 40-bit floating-point DSP for high-resolution processing, the DNS 4 is ready to perform in any scenario, big or small.

    Award Winning DNS Technology

Until CEDAR's Academy Award winning DNS technology, you were forced to use processes such as low-pass and other filters, noise gates, dynamics processes, or processes developed from analog encode/decode noise reduction systems. These often proved inadequate. Filtering is not selective about what it removes, and there is no relationship between the input and the filtering effect. Gates have no effect when the desired signal is present and lead to unnatural gaps in the signal. Other dynamics processes generate pumping, distortion and other unnatural effects, and encode/decode processes when used in this way simply act as dynamics processors.

CEDAR overcame these problems with the implementation of their algorithm-based solution, which learns and adapts to noise and selectively removes unwanted audio obstructions. The system is designed specifically for portability and a speed of use, and can effectively clean up noisy dialogue for film production, suppress ambient noise for live TV and radio broadcasting, revitalize sound effect libraries, and enhance speech for forensic audio investigations.

    Advanced and Portable

The DNS 4 is the most advanced portable model in the DNS series yet, with a compact Hirose HR10 power input and mini-XLR jacks for a form factor nearly as small as the DNS 2, but with double the number of channels available. With high-resolution DSP, numerous input and output jacks, phantom power, and a size small enough to be slipped into your pocket or equipment bag, the DNS 4 is the ideal solution for on-the-go noise suppression.

    • Four channels of state-of-the-art noise suppression
    • High-resolution 40-bit floating-point processing
    • Near-zero latency to ensure no loss of lip-sync
    • XLR3F and mini-XLR jacks with analog I/O and digital sync connections
    • 48V phantom power
    • Super-fast set up and control
    • Small, light, and eminently portable
    • Runs on 12V power

    An Industry Standard

The DNS technology developed by CEDAR is used on the highest quality productions and broadcasts to eliminate traffic noise, air conditioning, wind, rain, babble, and general background noise from audio. It will help to compensate for unfavorable acoustic conditions and poor microphone placement and will even suppress excessive reverberation. It's used to clean up sound for film production, to suppress ambient noise for live broadcasting, to refresh sound libraries, and to enhance speech for audio forensic investigations. It's an industry standard that has earned a string of awards including an Emmy, an Academy Award, an IABM Award, and two Cinema Audio Society Awards.
