The Ocean Way Audio HR5 is a high-resolution 2-way active studio reference monitor that delivers unerring accuracy with wide dynamic range. The HR5's integrated 24" 2-way dual-horn waveguide system provides an ultra-broad sweet spot with 100° horizontal and 40° vertical dispersion, allowing you to achieve precision monitoring in a variety of environments and placement scenarios, from midfield and nearfield applications to main monitor deployment with a subwoofer. Built like a fine musical instrument, the HR5 incorporates a solid ported cabinet and carefully selected and matched components, including a high-definition 1" tweeter, an aluminum cone 7” LF driver, and state-of-the-art 215-watt bi-amplification with analog plus digital inputs accepting 24-bit/192kHz data streams.

Dual waveguide system delivers an ultra-wide sweet spot
At the heart of the HR5’s acoustic design is Ocean Way Audio's dual/hybrid waveguide system, which serves up a huge 100-by-40-degree monitoring window. Ocean Way designs this structure using high-tech, 3D solid modeling, an ultra-precise process which allows for creating geometrically complex surfaces that facilitate accurate imaging within the system. As a result, the HR5 delivers an amazing 100-degree dispersion pattern over a very wide frequency range. This uniquely broad horizontal sweet spot is rendered with rich detail across a wide area of your listening environment. Solidity of the stereo image — even in the far corners of the room — is maintained due to the highly stable directivity response of the speaker system.

Carefully selected and matched components
The HR5 incorporates a high-definition HF driver with exemplary mechanical linearity. The geometrically reinforced aluminum-cone LF driver has a vented cast aluminum chassis for optimal strength and low compression. Mechanically time-aligned within the ported cabinet, the system is tuned for a seamless transition between the drivers. The 2-way active design delivers a superlative level of performance and allows generous placement flexibility within your room while delivering uniform 45Hz–25kH frequency response, and a remarkable 110dB maximum SPL. The HR5’s compact footprint notwithstanding, its impressive low-frequency response eliminates the need for a subwoofer. However, if exceptionally loud playbacks are desired, we recommend you to check out the Ocean Way Audio HR5S, which comes with OWA's exceptional S12A Mk II subwoofer, transforming the HR5 into a 3-way monitor system and extending the bass response to 25Hz.

Ocean Way: a legacy of unerring sonic quality
In 1976, five-time Grammy-winning recording engineer/producer Allen Sides started leasing the former United Western Studios in Hollywood, originally built in 1952 by legendary engineer/audio designer Bill Putnam. In 1988 he purchased the property and changed the name to Ocean Way Recording, and also added Record One in Sherman Oaks to the Ocean Way Family. In 1997 he opened Ocean Way Nashville on Music Row. Over the years, Sides personally worked on over 1,000 albums by top artists like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Phil Collins, and Alanis Morissette; and it is estimated that albums recorded in Mr. Sides’s studios have sold in excess of one billion copies. Housed in a 16,000 square-foot beachfront villa at the exclusive Eden Rock Resort on the Caribbean island paradise of Saint Barthélemy, Ocean Way St. Barths was created to provide the ultimate creative environment for this level of clientele.

Mr. Sides, who had been building audiophile speakers since he was a teenager, designed the unerringly accurate monitors used in all his control rooms and provided custom designs for many of his clients' studios. The Ocean Way brand had become synonymous with uncompromising sonic quality, and Ocean Way Audio was the next logical step, enabling studios of all sizes to avail themselves of this remarkable technology. Elevate your studio to world-class with Ocean Way Audio HR5 Reference Monitors.
